God Wants You to Come to His Son Jesus

God Wants You to Come to His Son Jesus
by David Cariaga

Last issue, I wrote on the topic “Know What God Wants.” I then pondered the question, is it the will of God that we commit sin like adultery, fornication, drunkenness, idolatry, murder and many others that is considered to be a big NO to the Bible? If the answer is that God does not wants us to sin, why do we continue in sin? Why would we knowingly violate God’s word – and yet dream of going to Heaven? This is a very simple question that needs to be answered and it is a choice to make if we want to be on God’s side and follow his teaching.

Nobody is perfect and I am one of them. The Bible mentions in  Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” And “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us” 1 John 1:8 (NIV). So this verses fits with the other verses that tell us that “no one is righteous, no not one” Romans 3:10 (KJV). Since we know now that these verses tell us that we are  sinners, shall we continue sinning? This question is not new as it has already been asked by Apostle Paul in Romans 6:1 “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?”(NASV) This question tells us that Apostle Paul recognizes us to be sinners. Our God recognized that and sent us the only alternative so that we will come out cleansed and Holy. Since we are not perfect and we sin, we needed a Savior and we needed to cling to Him! Jesus Christ is our only refuge for us to have that hope of eternal life.

People can be harsh and judgmental, but our Lord Jesus opens His arms to receive us. He calls for us – for anyone who needs LIFE and HOPE. 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (NIV). It is true that “nobody is perfect” but Jesus can make us perfect, ” That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” Ephesians 5:27(KJV). So here, our only recourse is to go to Jesus as He is just and willing to forgive our sins. If we come to Him and abide in His word, and follow Him, our past, dirty life shall be forgiven. If we repent and are willing to wash our sins by being baptized and be added to our Lord’s Church, this is our only way to be saved!

Yes my friends, you are not perfect and have a sinful past. You came to a realization that you wanted to change your life and your only was is to listen to the Bible instruction and come out cleansed. Let us listen to Jesus as He is calling us “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28. If you have some spiritual problem, come and see us so we can help guide you from the Scripture. We, the brethren from the Convoy Church of Christ would love to see you saved and are so willing to teach you and guide you the right path. May our Great God Bless You!

Know What God Wants

By David Cariaga

I am still in many ways confused why believers do not listen to the word of God. They were either not really serious when they obeyed the Lord or they do not see the true value of the word of God. Our Lord has warned us that Satan would seek to snatch the Word away as soon as it is being sown (Mark 4:14). When the word is sown in our hearts and mind, it is supposed to grow and makes us strong in our Lord. But Satan works every time the Word of God is preached to the ears. David J. Stewart said in his article on Not Listening to God that, “ things have not changed at all in 2,700 years (Hosea:765-723 BC). Most people today are fools who still would not listen to God. History testifies as to the wickedness, sinful pride and foolishness of mankind. People just do not listen! God has spoken to us in His word – Hebrews 12:1.God does not speak to anyone today through visions or dreams; but by the word of God. This is why Jesus commanded us to Search the Scriptures (John 5:39).”

In the Old Testament, God was trying to reach out to man. He wants man to listen to Him and that he will make God as his only God. “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God”. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (ESV). People think by not obeying, the call of God will not harm them. They can still enjoy their life and can go on their “own” way. But Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary expounded by saying “In this chapter the blessings and curses are enumerated at length, and in various minute details, so that on the first entrance of the Israelites into the land of promise, their whole destiny was laid before them, as it was to result from their obedience or the contrary.” The blessings of obedience, Deu 28:1-14. Curses for disobedience, Deu 28:15-68. “

I am encouraged by these words and it has pushed me to dig into the BIBLE more. Simply follow and obey the commands, and I am “FREE.” “Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” John 8:47 ESV

Let me encourage all of you reading this material. You needed our Lord! We all do! And our Lord wants us to feel that He wants us also. Our Father in Heaven sent His son Jesus to bring this message that He wants us to be saved and our only way is to LISTEN TO JESUS. God said “this is my only Son in whom I am well pleased, HEAR YE HIM” –Matthew 17:5. This is a command that we should not neglect. When we give all our best in listening to Him, we are fitly called to be of Jesus as he said “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27. Note that listening is doing or following.

Now, what about you? What does this verse say to you about hearing God’s voice?
